Trayvon Martin Facts
It deeply saddened me hearing the news of Trayvon Martin’s death and I want to express my sincere condolences to his family and friends. This is the reason I have chosen to write about the events that may or may not have happen that night.
Many have been blinded by rage, sadness, and even racism. Many bloggers, media outlets, and reporters have presented facts, opinions, and rumors on this tragedy.
My goal is to collect as many “hard” facts as I can and put together a logical situation that unfolded that night. Some may disagree with my interpretation of the outcome. That is more than welcome; this is my opinion as an outsider looking in.
A few facts to start with:
Took place February 26 2012 in Sanford, Florida
Trayvon Martin 17 years old was Unarmed
George Zimmerman 28 years old was Armed with a Kel-Tec PF-9
(I have left out calculated weight due to conflicting pictures and reports)
George was heavier than Trayvon
Trayvon was taller than George
George Zimmerman followed Trayvon Martin
I believe all other facts can be skewed or interpreted in different ways.
At this point my opinion and interpretation leads me to believe that George said something to Trayvon. Trayvon responded. This exchange would have been aggressive with the notion that Trayvon was doing something illegal and George had no business bothering Trayvon. This turned into a physical confrontation. George then shot Trayvon.
As you can tell, I have left this as cut and dry as possible. This is in hopes to avoid mistakes and misinterpretations.
My Judgment:
With these facts alone George Zimmerman’s self defense argument is invalid. George Zimmerman should be under arrest and prosecuted for the Murder of Trayvon Martin.
Conclusion:
All evidence should be taken into account for this case! I must emphasize this! My interpretation and facts are to point out that George Zimmerman unquestionably should be under arrest. The conviction should be determined by a judge and jury.
Any Hope for USA ?
Is there any hope for the USA ? I’m sick of economic instability because of a rotten political systems. All of the scandals, the investigations, the justifications, the wars, and the national aimlessness. “Why We Suck” would be a good book to reference. The personal vision of our leaders during the latter part of the last century and the early part of this century, save perhaps in the case of Nixon (who was impeached), is all about staying in power. Its all become a big joke. Our country is falling apart. The US is a shell of what we used to be. By now we’ve handed over all the power and are currently back seat drivers to our own downfall.
The education system sure as shit isn’t going to save us by bringing us smart and prepared young minds. Kids motivation is gone, teachers are held responsible for everything on top of being underpaid, and everyday we take more and more money away instituting new plans to accommodate for the holes. They claim it’s to make learning easier, better, faster, stronger (sounds like a song i know…)
We no longer build things to last, they are expected to fail or fall apart in about a year. Cars now last you the warranty. Computers are coming out so fast your behind as soon as you walk out the building. All while buying imported products, which in turn causes the money to leave our hands and cross overseas. I stand back and watch everything unfold. I’ve been a positive person all my life, still am. But at this point I can do nothing but sit back and watch our bad decisions eat us alive.
So I ask again is there any hope for the USA ? I don’t believe so, too little, too late. This is our reality, you just haven’t accepted it yet. There’s always more.
KONY 2012
Recently I posted a link on my Facebook about Kony 2012. To my surprise I was met by support and disgust. I’ll provide a bit of background info for those of you who do not know about it. KONY 2012 is a documentary produced by non-profit Invisible Children, has gone viral in the recent week, receiving millions of views on YouTube and Vimeo.
If you watch the video you get a clear message, from the director Jason Russell, stop an all around horrible person Joseph Kony.

Here’s where it gets interesting. With so many supporters you are bound to find the side against helping an all around good cause. I say this now, this is my opinion and it’s the only one that matters. I will give a small list of controversial points and why you can stop acting like these are great reasons to not support Kony 2012.
The Controversy
On March 7th, the “Visible Children” Tumblr was launched with a blog post criticizing the Invisible Children organization’s expenditures using charity dollars. The post received over 21,000 notes in less than two hours.
Invisible Children has been condemned time and time again. As a registered not-for-profit, its finances are public. Last year, the organization spent $8,676,614. Only 32% went to direct services (page 6), with much of the rest going to staff salaries, travel and transport, and film production. This is far from ideal, and Charity Navigator rates their accountability 2/4 stars because they haven’t had their finances externally audited. But it goes way deeper than that.
Surprise, they are doing a good thing and making money (not all that surprising). Even the biggest and well respected nonprofit make a great deal of money. Pick one and you can probably find ‘dirt’ online with very little effort.
Another minor controversy sprang up with a photograph in which the activists can be seen posing with firearms and other soldiers.
With this I understand they broke a principle of unarmed neutrality while operating in dangerous areas. Seems kind of minor in my mind, but I know you want as many possible reasons to sit on your lazy butt and only do something when someone threatens to take away your happy meal toy. I’ll let you have that one; they broke a rule/principle.
The filmmakers also support supplying the local army which in the past, as we all know, has lead to horrible consequences. In all honestly that’s the only way our government will choose to help. We stand to gain no defensive, economic, or strategic advantage from going in. So the best we will do is lend support and coach.
There’s a few other reasons floating around all over the internet and personally I just hope the experiment works. I would love to see people ban together in hopes for a better tomorrow. Not sit around complaining that it isn’t the optimal way to get things done. Things don’t get done unless you take a chance and yes it could end up making a mess but sitting around doing nothing sure as hell isn’t helping. Link to the Video here.
